Grief Garden Tattoo Project was founded in 2022 in honor of my dad, who I lost in 2018. Participants receive a small "Grief Garden" tattoo while we have a conversation about who the tattoo memorializes. The imagery in these tattoos originated from my painting practice where I was exploring the concept of loss as an emotional landscape with human shaped landmarks. This is an ongoing project with the goal to create space for grief and give participants a permanent memorial for their loved one(s). There have been over fifty participants in the project to date.
I am located in downtown Chattanooga at Standard Ink Tattoo Company. You must be 18+ to receive a tattoo in the state of Tennessee, and must bring a government issued ID or passport to your appointment. Grief Garden tattoos are free in order to make them as accessible as possible. Tips are accepted through venmo, cashapp, cash, or card. These tattoos are between 1-3 inches. It may take a few weeks for me to schedule your appointment.
